Re: Cleaning records is IMPORTANT

Offhand, Victor red seal, Capitol. I've had some white label promos bubble when a spot of water got on them. Interesting--I clean red seals all the time, and I've never had one show any ill effects from water. I did, however, have the surface of one late red seal 78 start showing marks when I made ...

Re: Cleaning records is IMPORTANT

Ink will run on certain of them though. Or the label will wind up with a mottled appearance, even if slight, once dry. My thing is no water on labels. that makes sense. Any clue which labels run so I can avoid getting those wet? The one of which I'm aware is Rainbow (Homer Rodeheaver's label). For ...

Re: I just took delivery of some serious record storage

I have to show my ignorance  I have no idea what a clamshell storage album is. Would you mind posting a few pictures of such an album inside and outside? Thanks in advance. Congratulations to your acquisition. Andreas Thanks (to you and everyone else)! I posted photos in the Yankee Tra...

Re: WANTED: Edison long play discs

Hello, I’m looking for playable long play discs. -Joshua John Tefteller has been selling some New Old Stock ones on Ebay. There are a couple listed right now. Expect to pay upwards to $400+ for playable 12 inch copies. Just before it ended, I was briefly (like, for 5 seconds) the high bidder in his...

Re: WANTED: Edison long play discs

Hello, I’m looking for playable long play discs. -Joshua I see that you are looking for a conversion kit over in the "Yankee Trader." Do you not have facility to play the long play discs already? If not, be aware that you must have a functional long play reproducer with a good stylus, too...

I just took delivery of some serious record storage

It's been a fairly long road, by no means without bumps, but I just this evening received an eBay purchase from some weeks back: a record storage cabinet with clamshell storage albums. It was misdescribed as a "lawyer's bookcase," but I recognized the albums at once. Finally, I'll have sto...

Oh, that's darling! Just one thing, though: that's an awfully bumpy pressing. ;)

Re: Interesting comment on the status of vinyl record production.

Interesting article--thanks for posting! Probably doesn't bode especially well for the little niche operations issuing microgroove 78s, like Rivermont.

Re: Why so glum?

The photographer, who was also a phonograph collector, informed them that their machine that they were so proud of is actually a cheap Indian "crapophone". You know, now that you mention it, I wonder if this isn't one of those modern "old fashioned posed photos" that sometimes a...
