Please can someone tell me how to stop email notifications to my phone

Are you talking about getting a notification that you have received a private message or have you subscribed to something (which is alerting you)?

For the former, you would go to the User Control Panel, under Board Preferences > Edit Global Settings (linked for your convenience) and set Notify me on new private messages: (halfway down) to No.

For the latter, you would go to the User Control Panel, under Overview > Manage Subscriptions (also linked), check any subscriptions you do not want (or click Mark All at the bottom right, under the list of topics), then click Unwatch marked.
