Problem with the APS website

Post by MikeB »

I tried to login to the APS website today, www.antiquephono.org, and I get a "security risk" page on my Mac. It appears that the site's certificate has expired. Just reporting the problem.

Same thing with my PC -- Win 10/Firefox browser:

I checked the status of my PC clock and it's fine.

I just connected with my MAC, using Safari - no problems... It could be your anti-virus software...

Normally, Firefox spits out the screen warning when trying to access a site with an expired certificate. I just tried the link now, and it works, so whatever problem there was has been resolved.

It appears that the security certificate for the site had momentarily expired, causing the issue. I checked again, and it looks like the certificate has been renewed.

This may have been the problem at the time, but since then they were hacked.

Their page was redirecting to a German site hosted in China, and it has affected their Google results:
