Password reset headache.

I have been trying to get a password reset off and on for some months now because, though I am signed in on this old phone, I am not signed in on my new phone or on my desktop, so can’t post from those devices and I do not remember my password (yes, my bad).
When I request a reset it says I have been sent a reset email but none appears in the inbox, nor in spam incoming nor in junk mail.
It also now says that I have had too many bad login attempts (6 or 7 over a few months.
Anyone else had this problem?
