So last night my wife is watching the season's final episode of the world's favorite stuffy period soap opera (DVR'ed a couple of days ago), and what do I spy in the bad guy's room? An Indian crapophone complete with its shiny brass horn.

As the guys on ESPN would say, "C'mon man!"

They used a proper HMV machine twice before- a household like that would have probably had a cabinet machine, but a big horn clues the audience into "Old Gramophone"

They were also rather slow to update their Edwardian Renault for the current Sunbeam. Both the BBC's and ITV's property buyers seem unaware that in pre-war Britain, old money (including the Royal Family) favoured Daimlers.

Whatever you may see in television dramas, no reigning British monarch prior to the current Queen Elizabeth II owned a Rolls-Royce. Daimler was the royal car of choice throughout the first half of the 20th century.

I think that Renault town car was also used in the old Upstairs, Downstairs TV series also.
