I was looking at an Expert handmade gramophones advert on here and saw that expert were offering two types of soundbox, the standard, for steel and fibre needles and the dynamic for fibre only, is there much of a difference in the two? I'd assumed the standard was a 2 spring and the dynamic the heavier 4 spring, which would explain the recommendation for fibre needles only

Absolutely right, the standard was the 2 spring and the dynamic was the heavier 4 spring. It is worth noting that the earliest Expert Seniors were supplied with the 2 spring as the 4 spring came along later. Have a great Christmas!
