Rare Indian HMV table top gramophone
I mentioned this in the 130 thread as it is essentially a similar machine but this one has the no. 52 oil bath motor, re-entrant type tone-arm and fittings shared with it's more transportable cousin, the 113.

Yes, typical Indian mash up. I cant tell if it was ever previously an earlier table grand which got a later retrofit, if that makes sense?
Mind you, the cabinet is definitely 1930's Deco style.

That is a beautiful design. And the motor looks very Columbia like. Original machines from countries outside of the usual mainstream are so interesting.

Re: Rare Indian HMV table top gramophone
You're very welcome, Andreas. In fact the HMV 52 is based on the Garrard Super motor which was an earlier oil bath design.

What a very interesting machine Steve and, mash-up or not, has great appeal, craftsmanship and artistry. As for the motor---what can one say..............superb ! Unique I imagine ?

Thanks, Graham. I think this is a unique machine made to order and yes, the oil-bath motor is quite special.
