EMG ?????

Post by phonodesbois »

Not mine
I saw this ad on https://www.leboncoin.fr/collection/1688398483.htm/ (the French version of the US Craigslist) described as « EMG Handmade Gramophone 1935 Mark » sold with a bunch of stuff.
I just pass the info as my EMG knowledge is nil or at best close to zero...

Many thanks for the link Jeff but it has now been sold to a French collector.

I saw that and couldn't stop thinking about it, but unfortunately just wasn't in a position to buy it.

Perhaps it is possible to ask the seller if he or she has registered any data about that machine for the database that Graham is compiling.. it would be interesting to have at least the serial number, and some photos would help to register other features of the machine

You are ahead of me Inigo ! Thank you for the suggestion and I am currently in conversation with the vendor who has indeed given me the serial number which is 1162. I shall hopefully be able to tell you more of the interesting history in a week or so and post more photographs.

Amazing - what an extreme bargain that looks to have been!

:D kind of 'lost chances' or 'what I've missed', that kind of threads... In 2010 and 2012 i was living in the area for almost a year... Pity I didn't profit of the cheap gramophone market of France...! Only once I went to a small town that used to have Saturday morning flea market at the port. I bought a bunch of 78s at 1€/each, and still the nice woman wanted me to take the whole lot for no additional cost...
(I've never been mentally ready to buy 78s in lots, pity me!)

Hey! It seems to continue for sale... The advert has been kept renovating these days, the last time yesterday by night...

Scammer central! The first sale was legit I think, and now scammers are trying to "cash in".

A friend in France bought a very nice phono also at around euro 2K a few years ago, and it now pops up in Leboncoin about every 2 weeks.
