Surely cannot be original? Looks to me like it's a black 101 which has been beautifully veneered.

Like you, I seriously doubt that it is original. If it were, then I believe the interior and bottom would be veneered also.

Yes a black 101 veneered ob the outside , all wooden HMV's would be wooden inside as well including the record storage unit
