Re: Do you know this reproducer?
Oh, a soundbox / reproducer with it's own horn !
Now, that makes complete sense to me - although I would never have thought of it.
I am surprised that this idea wasn't far more prevalent.
Richard E Taylor is mentioned on the internet with a phone number - maybe he could help identify it ?

Re: Do you know this reproducer?
Perhaps the idea is similar to the Pixie Grippa portable gramophone, which had a small aluminium horn at the front of the soundbox aswell as sound being conveyed through the tonearm. An idea that was also similar to the Arryola Master Add-A-Tone reproducer that was sold in the US...
Or it is part of a home recording outfit in which you spoke into the mouthpiece at the front of the soundbox. See the Fay Home Recorder. If your soundbox is closed at the back and therefore sound cannot escape to the tonearm, this would suggest a home recorder rather than the former explanation.
Just speculation, of course.

Enrico, let us know whether the back is closed or not. It would be interesting to help solve the mystery of its purpose.Enrico wrote:Thank you all for your replies!
