Post by soundgen »

I have been clearing my hard drive of unwanted files , many of which I have no idea where I got them from or why :? Ageing memory probably , but they may interest other members and will still be available to keep if anyone wants

Thanks, looks like interesting reading...

Why are you deleting files? Just get a 1TB portable hard drive - you'll never fill it up and you can keep everything. Files are a lot easier to store than 100,000 78s...  AND they weigh a lot less.

Unfortunately I am the only one who can access the computer so when I demise so do the files , and I am also trying to liquidate the records , maybe literally if I can convert the back to shellac ! :D “Our new Constitution is now established, and has an appearance that promises permanency; but in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.” Unless TRUMP gets around this as he has with taxes :D

Thanks for these files, Mike!
If you want to get rid of your hundred thousand 78s, why don't you contact the clpgs, or national library or so...? Maybe they're interested... Of course, you could try first to sell them in lots thru eBay or something. One would need an entire life to go thru them, classify them or listen to them. What a problem! I've got only 5000, and from those, I keep at home only ⅔, the rest being stored at the basement, and a little bunch at the country house. But I'm starting to think what to do with them, and I'm only 56 now. I cannot hold and manage that quantity. I'm starting to select the best ones among them, planning to get rid of the others...
