Decca 22 gramophone

Post by zapper »

Many years ago I bought a Decca 22 gramophone. I would like to know if anyone can help with a date for the gramophone whose number is A22706 on the id plate.
Thank you
Brian

Many Decca portables have a paper label under the turntable showing the date of manufacture, but the 22 and it's bigger brothers do not. The 22 was introduced in late 1928 and had a short production life, probably no later than 1930. The CLPGS publishes a most informative booklet on Decca portable gramophones, available via their website http://www.clpgs.org.uk.
