Hello
A seller offers to me this gramophone. As you can see is all complete in original condition (the seller forgot picture the crank). The only problem is that the machinfe not is working because it have a broken or slipped spring.
Here some pictures.
Thanks in advance
Albert

It is a rare machine, a rare example of exuberance out of the stern and sober English HMV production, and quite good looking! The broken spring can be replaced, there are replacements available - soundgen in this forum sells them. The only item of concern I can see from the photos is the warped plinth. I don't know how to straighten it while still maitaining its varnish intact. The wood unwarping methods I am aware of involve steaming the wood for long periods, which would damage the finish, but I am not a wood treatment specialist. If it were mine I would probably keep it as is, it is not that noticeable.

It looks like a great easy project machine. There are no set prices but this one looks like an easy sell. How much is the seller asking for it?

A bit on the pricy side I would think, but you won't find an untouched piece like this very easily.

Yes. I agree. I see the price little high too, but luckily this machine is from 30 minutes to my home, so zero postal charges and zero riisk of breakage.
Thanks !
Albert.

Re: HMV de Luxe model 3,gramophone
I am only asking because I am ignorant (lacking knowledge) and ask with genuine respect because I am puzzled. I also ask stupid questions sometimes and know virtually nothing about horn gramophones. Part of the reason I like this forum is because people are not horrible when silly questions are asked.
My question is this.
To me it doesn't look like a machine which was produced by HMV. It seems too ornate for example.
There is also a logo which I can't see too clearly, but it mentions Barcelona I think. So did HMV make gramophones outside of England and India ?
So please let me know what I am missing here.
Thank you very much.

Hello
This gramophone is 100 % original, and during 1908/1909 was the top of the range horn machine that HMV offers in their catalogues in a lot of European countries: Spain, Germany, Rusia and UK between others.
This model never was produced or sell in India.
See attached catalogs copies:
Regards
Albert.
