I have a Mayfair DeLuxe gramophone which runs a Garrard No 20 motor. Currently the speed is to high but adjustable between approx 93 to 103 rpm.
Haven't played with one of these before but can see that there is a plate that moves up and down the axis of the governor and it's position is changed by a moving pad controlled by the speed lever. I can't see why the speed is out of range or how to adjust it, Any advice or guidance would be very much appreciated.

Re: Garrard No20 Speed Adjustment
To adjust the speed you don't need to touch the motor at all. Move the speed lever towards "slow" until you reach the point where the turntable is spinning at roughly 78 rpm. Then remove the turntable, and at the other end of the speed adjusting lever, there is a screw that clamps the far end of the lever to the spindle that sticks through the motor board. Undo that screw a few turns, so that the lever is loose, move the other end so that it points to "78" then tighten the screw. Job done, although you may have to adjust it a few times until you get it right!

Thanks Barry, that's straightforward enough. Thank you for your help.
