anyone has a picture of Overstall gramophone?

I am designing my own gramophone, finally after selling the Columbia I owned.

As the tonearm assembly currently is the hardest part to come up with, I am searching for gramophones to use as referrence in my design.

Unfortunately, the thread that once contained pictures of the Overstall gramophone is now missing it's attachments.

Could anyone upload any pictures of Overstall gramophone tonearm?

The Overstall's current custodian is Forum member "Old Country Chemist" who lives about ten miles from me.
He does not log into the Forum very often, so I will forward your request direct to him.
Meanwhile here is the only picture that I have.

Roger.

Here are a few more : George appears to have used an Expert tonearm bearing and then possibly home-made thereafter ? There is even a suggestion of the use of a Quinke tube. The soundbox is Astra.

Hello ALL OF YOU ON THE FORUM.
I suppose you could say that I am "just passing by" as it were, as I sadly hardly ever seem to have the time to enter into discussions on the forum now. I have been sent an e mail by Roger, to say that photographs are required of the Overstall gramophone.
THANK YOU GRAHAM! You have helped me out here with the photographs. Very kind of you to do so.

Contessa.....
The TONE ARM or Sound arm as it is sometimes called, is made of "drawn brass tubing. It is EXACTLY 12 INCHES, (30 centimetres LONG). It is curved as you can see in Graham's photographs. The ball bearing base is indeed an old Ginn or EMG ball bearing base. Interestingly, the "Quinke filter is located at the BACK of the tone arm.
I hope this is of help to you, and if you need further information, then I will try to help you as much as I can.
from
Alastair Murray.

I’m interested to see what you come up with, as I have a motor that needs a gramophone to go with it :)

Considering handmade everything, but if a good arm comes along, I’m always happy to not re-invent the wheel!

Contessa, you will have noticed that the Overstall horn is located in a square socket, making it impossible to vary it's direction without moving the entire machine. This is something to be avoided when designing your own machine.
I never quite understood why a square socket was used when it's creator, a skilled engineer, could easily have made a round one.

Roger.

To everyone:

Good to know about the details, which can not be figured out by the pictures. I will update when I finish building my gramophone, well, some day.

Thanks for the advices 8-)
