Steve, with your experience how does the Columbia 113a compare with the other portables?
Thanks, Jamie
Aha, interesting question. As I have a 113A and 160 (?) I'll have to do some comparisons and report back. Truth be told they're all excellent performers.jamiegramo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2024 1:26 pmSteve, with your experience how does the Columbia 113a compare with the other portables?

I've just bought a 110 so when I've rebuilt the soundbox I will compare the 100, 110 and the 120/130 model Deccas. The 100 has a similar horn to an HMV 101, the 110 is similar to an HMV 102 whilst the 120/130 have that amazing bifurcated design which does indeed sound better!jamiegramo wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2024 12:41 pm Wow that’s quite impressive the Decca 120. They’ve utilised the limited space of a portable very well.
You found the bifurcated horn more effective than one large single horn?
I thought you weren't going to buy any more gramophones, Steve! Old habits die hard eh?Steve wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2024 6:25 pmI've just bought a 110 so when I've rebuilt the soundbox I will compare the 100, 110 and the 120/130 model Deccas.
