Dulcephone - Black and Brass Model

Post by mariof »

Hi,

I've recently added this Dulcephone to my collection. It's a big impressive machine (that turntable is 12"). I'm wondering if anyone has any material (eg. Catalogue/ advertisement) relating to this model in particular. I'd love to learn more about it. Collectors of G&T machines maybe aware that there was a G&T machine made in a strikingly similar (but different) cabinet.

Cheers,
Mario

This 1911 Dulcephone catalogue is for sale on UK eBay. A similar machine to yours is pictured, but it has a one piece tonearm.
In 1911 a gooseneck tonearm would have infringed the Victor/HMV patent, so your machine is probably later.

That's an amazing and truly stunning machine you have there, Mario.

I don't think I've seen more than two Dulcephone horn machines for sale in the UK in the past 30 years. They are seemingly quite rare compared to HMV, which does surprise me. There can't be a special outlet for Dulcephones somewhere so why aren't many more seen for sale on Ebay and The Saleroom?

Beautiful machines!

To join things up, here's a past thread relating to Dulcephones: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=42017 - although partly useless now that all the attachments are lost. 😡 If anyone would like, I can post some images of my Pansy again.

Same here. I have Dulcephone Pansy very similar to Andy's.
