Fascinating Chunny and very many thanks for sharing. The Darrieulat cases are beautiful. Here is another one which is a slight mystery in that it has a Mk X horn but swans-neck tonearm. All of the other Mk Xs I have seen have goose-neck tonearms. I photographed this example in, I think, somewhere near Virginia Water, Surrey perhaps twenty years ago. I have since tried to trace it and the owner but he seems to have gone to live in Portugal and the trail has gone cold.

Wonderful to see what, I think, is now the fourth early inverted tonearm Wilson horn model base unit that has come to light ?

I personally think this model with the Xa horn is quite beautiful. I'll have to try that combination with mine.

Very nice Darrieulat case. Thanks for posting it. I've not see that combination before.
Monsieur Darrieulat really did have a style of his own. Here is a pic of Esther Ginn's writing desk.

Might be a silly question, but can you do anything about the droop in the Mk X horn?

One day I am going to own one of these... even if I have to make one

Cheers,

David
