Another teak 101 rears its head!

Post by Steve »

Okay, so technically not another one as we have already discussed this one in the Ebay section but here it is as I have just purchased it and it's not been cleaned or had anything done to it yet apart from me reversing that escutcheon to reveal it is an original HMV type but supplied with black painted finish. I'm not sure why the seller thought it couldnt be reversed but anyway, now corrected. Everything else is high gloss nickel or chrome. My money is on nickel (pun intended):

That's a very nice machine, congratulations! I presume the winder hole is in the correct position, and that your initial impression of it being different from the other 101s was due to the photo perspective.

Thank you, Carlos.

Yes, it all fits exactly as it should and obviously how it was made originally but it IS further back than the other one I have. Please see below:

Looks like someone took the kid to the factory and let him play with the stamper! Nevertheless, some of my Indian machines have similar randomly spread lettering/numbering like that.

Many thanks. It is a great example. The scratches in the cabinet are quite light and will colour out with some Topps Scratchcover. It'll sit nicely with my teak panelled lid 101 and 100, 112, 113 and 114.
