On a similar note,
I have a Western Electric 15B theater horn in my collection and have often wondered how the EMG or a Orthophonic would sound played through it.
But the though of getting the plumbing right to couple the 2 devices correctly is beyond daunting.

Any idea how many of these were sold?

The sales figures no longer exist, but given that the standard UK door aperture measures 30 inches, probably not many.

Check out this recent post by Watanabehi. The magazine front page shows a Western Electric driver attached to a tonearm.

A very interesting piece of advertising, although a bit misleading, as the pictured gramophone bears a standard expert horn, not the mentioned 36" all range horn. So is clearer reading the whole text.
I only know of a photo of a gramophone with such all range horn installed, and it's a well known photo, which i saw first in the Boris Semeonoff book on record collecting, referring to it as a friend's music corner with the lowboy gramophone, the 36"horn and a record shelf aside. But I've also seen that same photo, i don't remember now if it is in Francis James's book on in another place ..

Here is an All Range with fine pedestal case which I think is located in Japan. It could possibly have a bell mouth diameter in excess of 36 inches---hard to judge.

Here are a couple more photos of the same instrument suggesting that it is probably a "standard" 36 inch All Range.

Many years ago Ian Maxted remembers seeing a horn at Heathrow awaiting transport to Japan which he thinks might have had a 48" diameter bell mouth (or even larger) but no photos exist as far as I am aware.
