Probably the originator of the advice was a record dealer, who forgot to add: it if cracks, come to our shop, we have exactly the replacement you need!

Obviously you would do this without the records in the folder.

Some of the better quality albums had brass rivets pressed into the leaves to prevent the records slipping too close to the spine, this being the main cause of breakages around the rim. As a general rule I would not recommend storing records in albums.

Ha, ha.... but watching the hands pressing the album, i cannot avoid feeling a cold electric thing running down my spine...! Horror!
