I applied to join this forum about a year ago and had pretty much given up on the idea that I'd be admitted - especially when I read some posts on the topic. But yesterday I got an email to say my account has been activated. So this is just to say hello and I'm looking forward to joining the discussions when appropriate.

Welcome Gavin! Indeed, we're all more or less aware than this board is a ship adrift, but I never realized before that also subscribing is such a pain for new members. What a pity. In the mess of the so called "social media", this old-fashioned forum is a blessed island, and it's still pretty active too.

Yes, it does seem a shame that there may be potential new members out there who have given up waiting and gone away. There does seem to be good, active and interesting discussion going on.
