Allen's Parlor Furnace/Credenza?

Post by Zeppy »

Saw this on Facebook Marketplace. A coal stove that looks like a Credenza (even wood grained?) Not really my cup of tea, but thought it was worth documenting.

These are often nicknamed "heatrolas" after a parlor stove of the same name, mimicking a VV-XVI. The idea of a parlor stove looking like a phonograph just doesn't seem right to me but I am alive in 2020 and maybe it was cooler back then, who knows.

I don't see how a coal-hod next to a stove like this would help it blend in as "not a parlor stove" though.

I do have the one that looks like a Victor XVI, not in use ---due to some broken cast iron parts. Very Very Heavy.
