Questionable ebay seller

Post by fonograph »

Has anybody had any experience with this guy medievaltheoldmorse-divingmart on ebay? He's got a lot of high quality machines for sale but really bad feedback. Prices are all over the place too,

Apparently, his scams are not limited to gramophones. According to this post -- https://www.divescrap.com/DiveScrap_IND ... rt!_2.html -- adammedievalmart-2020 rips off photos of the real deal and then delivers a fake item in its place to the winning bidder.

In the case of gramophones, I'd imagine instead of the advertised Vic. VI, the buyer would receive a standard crap-o-phone.

Most of his listings still have the Miller & Miller auction house watermarks on the photos he ripped off

As we say in Spain, he's chungo de cojones,!
But being so clumsy, still there must be people who fall into the trap, if not I suppose he would have improved his technique...

87.5% positive feedback should set the alarm bells ringing. Has anyone reported him to eBay?

This type of “bait and switch” scam has been prevalent on eBay since Day 1. Why they can’t eliminate such sellers is beyond me. Even when reputable, knowledgeable eBayer’s report such swindles, the attitude seems to be extreme complacency.

What confuses me even further: eBay’s “Managed Payments” system uses PayPal, where an “Item Not As Described” claim is heavily biased against sellers and in favor of buyers. One would think that the number of disputes would make it economically unviable to continue to allow scam sellers on their site.

I got all excited when I first saw the listing for the Victor V on eBay but quickly came to my senses.

There is a listing for a Victor V, supposedly in Washington State, for $1,520:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/255834308541?h ... SwoTljd5-U

There is a feedback comment stating an item (not a phonograph) was shipped from India instead of Washington State

and another listing for a Victor V in Indiana for $935:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/175487723294?h ... d%3APL_CLK

On both ads, the picture is identical but the seller's name is different. The $935 ad says 1 available, 5 sold. Undoubtedly crapophones

These ads where the seller's name is something like collectibles, decoration, bygone_era, etc I never trust. Another thing is to check is the seller's other items...
Although one never knows... There has been for many months one seller of cosmetics, natural healthy products, Zen things, body& home, etc, somewhere in the Netherlands, in their own website, which had for sale a Micro-perophone Chronogram for something like 250€, and it was authentic..!
