Unusual Monarch Label?

Post by JPow »

Is anyone familiar with this Victor Monarch Record label? I don't think I've ever seen one resembling this one.

Looks like a pretty rare ca 1902 PATTERN LABEL. Below is a page from the Victrola Record book by Michael Sherman.

The seller doesn't appear to be particularly knowledgeable. I hope he knows how to properly package this record!

I don't know how this could be safely shipped for only $8.

I rarely buy records by mail, but if the seller seems inexperienced I send them details of how I would pack for postage.

Same here - I consider it my responsibility. ...And sometimes the sellers actually take my advice! :)

I do that too. Pretty much guarantees a broken record... :x

The record discussed here is really interesting. Best of luck in getting it!

I only charge $4.25 to ship a record media mail, done it dozens of times and never had one break. Of course I package it to death sandwiched between cardboard and floating in an oversized box. Still, at $8 I'd be making a profit ;-)

This one will be fun to see what it goes for. The seller also has another rare record listed.

That's good to know. (I haven't shipped a record in about a decade, but I just sent some chocolate peanut butter brownies to my mother-in-law, and the 7" x 7" x 7" box was just under $20!)
