Here is something to shake up the most jaded Victor records collector - a batch of 18 Consolidated Gram-O-Phone 7" records, far more than I've ever seen in my life. Recorded in 1900, these were the first record labels issued by the company that later became Victor. They were also the first records having a paper label.

Re: 18 Consolidated Gram-O-Phone 7" 78 rpm Records on eBay!!
Well, all I can say is "UNBELIEVABLE". My wife and I used to live a stone's throw from the seller's area in Central NY many years ago. I never found much of anything in that area when were there and, believe me, I looked. He / she is incredibly fortunate! My guess is the seller paid very little for these early batches of 7 inch records and had little clue as to their value as most of their other items are more commonly found earlier items. The good news with a find like this is that even in the 21st century there are still some wonderful early items like this waiting to be found in attics and outbuildings. Man, I wish I found these records! The Will Steele "Eikenstein On The War" record and the Sousa record of "Who Dat Say Chicken In Dis Crowd" alone are incredible finds on this label. I have only found 3 or 4 of these Improved Gram-O-Phone (Consolidated) records and this person found 18 presumably from one source. There is a nice mix of the early olive-grey Improved Gram-O-Phone label with the later black labels. The olive-grey labels are very prone to label wear being the very first paper label and the black label with gold lettering held up much better. Unbelievable! And then 21 Improved Records. Oh the humanity! What incredible luck!

Let's hope he spends more than $6.52 to pack and ship these.

In my opinion, I would say the buyer make a very good purchase on the group. The olive labels are exceedingly rare as are some of the titles.FellowCollector wrote:Just sold for $3000.VintageTechnologies wrote: http://www.ebay.com/itm/18-Gram-O-Phone ... 1c39170d25
