A charming photo of the great Welsh tenor Ben Davies (1858-1943) clearly posed for the camera, but this is no recording studio and that is no gramophone recording machine!

Ben Davies made a lot of early Pathé recordings so the machine make sense.
The wrong caption may have been added by the photographer by mistake or by intention to make it more salable to the press and book publishers.
I wonder if there was a picture of him in a studio as well?
