Recording Horn???

Post by JerryVan »

Some odd proportions. Is this a studio recording horn? Poor condition, but maybe worth saving!

I'd wager that it's from a trombone.

Generally the bell of a trombone is wider, but maybe in older trombones it would be different.

Trombonist here. No way this is a trombone bell. Case closed (pun intended).

Another Trombonist here-- (Hi Henry!) Not a trombone. Perhaps a Herald Horn-- **Think-- the king entering the courtyard. :)

I happily stand corrected on my trombone assumption. But I'd still wager it's from some musical instrument and not originally for a phonograph.

I think it's a funnel for automotive work: transmission oil fill, etc. ;)

Could that be from a pipe organ? Definately not a recording horn, but it might work as one.

No hanger? Then it's not a recording horn.
