Re: Recording Horn???
It says free shipping but that length will be pricy. Could that be a ceremonial horn like when they salute someone and has a flag on it ??? Tom

Re: Recording Horn???
The pipe organ idea seems plausible. I'm thinking of the array of "trumpet" horns at Sanfilipo's, located high above the balcony and part of the Wurlitzer theater organ ensemble.edisonphonoworks wrote:Could that be from a pipe organ? Definately not a recording horn, but it might work as one.

Re: Recording Horn???
If this was in Britain we would probably say this was a Post Horn, an instrument used by mail coach guards for signalling their approach. Back in the 1970s when brass was fashionable there were many repros of these about... typically found hanging above the fireplace in pubs. However this looks like an original. I think hunting horns were normally shorter.

Re: Recording Horn???
I don't see how a mouthpiece could be fitted to the horn as it now appears; looks like somebody lopped off the small end, which would make it difficult to play on. I'm leaning toward edisonphonoworks's idea of an organ pipe.

This looks like the bell section of a Civil War brass musical instrument. The long bell section goes over the shoulder. Here is a picture of lower voice instruments.
