Described as an HMV101, which it is not, this machine has many unusual features and is probably an overseas model. The question is where?
Chrome plated exterior fittings, including HMV102 style case corners, on a black machine.
HMV lid transfer with no country of origin.
HMV97 style speed control, autobrake, winding handle escutcheon and storage clip.
HMV turntable, retaining clip and carrying handle.
Columbia/Garrard style manual brake.
Non-original soundbox.
Not an HMV101, but what is it?

Re: Not an HMV101, but what is it?
Very interesting! It could almost be a model 88, were it not for the corner needle tray. The Columbia style brake could of course be a later replacement, but the handle storage clip is not like any HMV version I've ever seen. The correct ones for the 88 and the 97 have square, very thin backplates with two prodruding spring metal pieces to hold the handle. Another possible later addition are the chromium corner protectors, as fitted in the 102. I can't imagine that HMV would have gone to the extra expense of fitting these to what is obviously a budget machine. If they DID, then surely they would have been black, as on all prevous black models? The lid catch on the front is very obviously a modern replacement Hmmm....
