Re: desk phonograph
That is one heck of a custom phonograph/desk...I was looking for the secret compartment that had the gold and jewels inside. The price was not too bad but the shipping will be bad. Tom

Re: desk phonograph
That's quite spectacular. I wonder if it would fit in my basement. I might need some help getting it there. Any volunteers? (Nor in the cards for me but it would be a centerpiece in most collections.

Listing says the works are "Edison". Don't think so.

Re: desk phonograph
The words "phenomenal" and "rare" are frequently over used, but in this case they are fully justified. It would be interesting to know it's history.

And, for “$8000-$12000”, you get the privilege of handing over your hard-earned coin to an auction house that can’t tell Victor from Edison, even when plainly marked. $1500 max.

Zoom in and look at the tone arm. It appears to be Victor tone arm, "wrapped" in wood, right up to u-tube anyway. Cool shooting star inlay on the arm. No other Victor items though, (e.g. crank, turn table, speed control, etc.).
While the desk is extraordinary, it definitely has some condition issues.

I like the bulbs more than anything else. Did Montana have many power plants? I am assuming the lamps ran from 110 volt mains. The style is turn of the century but the No.2 reproducer and wide goose neck speak 1920.
