Got the Sparton Model 101 home and did basic checks. Phonograph actually playes pretty well once I rebuilt the pick up rubber. Radio reciever will need some work. The original Magnavox speaker was replaced sometime in the 40s by the looks of things. I have already acquired an appropriate original Magnavox speaker to put back in it. Have been working on the changer slowly. This particular one is a bear to get adjusted For the lead in. Although they’re not in great shape, this is the first one oh one I have seen with its original albums with it.

A update on the Sparks ensemble restoration. I cleaned up the cabinet and used OZ cream polish on the finish. Wow does that stuff work! Went through the changer and now have it working perfectly. Still need to replace caps in the radio FR section. The original Magnavox filed coil speaker had been replaced with a later non field coil type. I have acquired an original Magnavox to put back in it. So the attached photos and videos are how it looks and plays presently.

There were a few missing thigs like the radio-off-phonograph knob and a tag in the phonograph compartment that I had to find and reproduce with the help of a friend who owns the same model of Sparton that I sold him 17 years ago.

Thanks for the great clear videos! Always was curious about this changer, how it worked, so on. Do you know: was the model 99 earlier than the 101? Although awkward looking, the record change cycle seems faster. Maybe it had issues in use that were ironed out with the 101? Misplacing that little pulley-like "foot" for the model 99 record magazine spindle to rest in must have made stacking records more of a chore. Loading the 101 is much easier by comparison. The decorations on the bottom front apron were "rep wood" or composition, all are intact and beautiful on your machine. They can fall victim to damp conditions or overzealous whacks from the vacuum cleaner. Glad you got this Sparton 101, it's a stunner.
