If anyone is interested in getting this I could potentially help with picking it up. It could sit in my garage until you could pick it up/arrange shipping. The finish on the inside doesn't look too great.... but maybe it would clean up nicely. They are asking $500 for it

That will clean up fine inside! Quick shot of Howards' RAF and some wax and it'll be ready to go.

Good find, too.

This is the one I heard about. Still hoping to hear how the horn and motor compare to a Cortez:

I would assume that they sound very similar.... I have never seen/heard a Hampton in person. It looks like the horn on the Hampton is slightly smaller than the horn on the Cortez. I would be surprised if the Hampton didn't have the same 4 spring motor of the Cortez.... maybe someone here can confirm this.

The horn size comparisons are in the post string you linked.

Hampton Horn:
RE: Kirkwood -- Horn Opening -- 14 inches wide by 18.75 inches tall

Cortez Horn:
RE: AZ -- Horn Opening -- 17 ¾ inches wide and 23 inches tall
(AZ also confirms that the length of the Cortez horn is five feet.)

As for differences in sound quality, the Hampton may actually sound slightly "better" because the horn is positioned farther from the floor, and more in direct line with the listeners' ears while in a seated position.

Know of anyone in the area who could maybe transport it to the Chicago show? Thanks.
