Hundreds of phonographs for sale

Post by cheryla »

My wife was looking at real estate listings and found this house PACKED with machines.

https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2031 ... 5913_zpid/

The house is filled with phonographs, all for sale. Look at the pictures, then look at the rooms full of phonographs. I called the man today, he runs Motel T Haven, he said he has “hundreds of phonographs including every Amberola, both models of Edison A-1, Edison B-1, etc”. No Orthophonic schoolhouse which is what I wanted…
Iola, Kansas
His Phone number is : 620 365 6709 and he said we could put the word out if anyone is interested.

Holy cow. He should start selling if he is moving the house?

I never realised how cheap property prices are in the USA compared to the UK.
That is a lot of property for $490,000 or £357,700.
When I showed my wife the pictures she asked "when do we leave?"

You have to realize that it is in Iola, Kansas. Not quite the middle of nowhere, but you can see it from there. I have purchased from this gentleman before. He has been an eBay seller for years, but mostly old Ford parts

It depends very greatly on where you are. In parts of the country, $500K can get you a huge piece of property and a house in decent shape. In the large cities, $500K may not get you anything at all.

Somebody with a hustler's frame of mind could make this person and offer for the house and contents.... The buyer could keep the pieces they want to slowly sell off the other items to help offset the monthly payment.... ;)

Too bad we are at the "top end" of the real estate market, right now, and it may only be down from here... :D Sorry, I should not have waded into those waters on this thread. I should keep my opinions to myself... 8-)

Good heavens! British collectors would love all that space to display their machines. When I say space it just goes on and on... and then another building and another. Mind you I wouldn’t like mowing the lawn.

The perfect excuse to buy a ride on mower. A vintage model, naturally :
