I don’t know for sure if it is figured American Walnut, Crotch Cut Walnut, Circassian Walnut or some combination. I read that American Walnut did not appear in the Victor Catalog until 1917, (at least according to the Victor Victrola site. Either way, I think that this would be a beautiful machine after a little elbow grease. It includes the original albums too, so that is a plus. The lid looks Circassian to me. Victor did do some mixing of woods, so this may be the case.
Wood grain varies from tree from tree and not all Circassian is dramatic. I think that someone would have to see it in person and draw their own conclusion.
