Another fool. What makes the seller think its a "silly offer" exactly? The only thing silly is the seller who didn't let it run its course. What did he / she gain by doing this? The buyer would still have bought it at the price in an auction but at least they would have had competition and potentially the price could have gone much higher. Hopefully Ebay will catch up with them.

The card carton could have added over £100 to it. Its a lot rarer than the gramophone. My guess is that the price was cheap.
