Rare Green crocodile Columbia 112A portable

Post by Steve »

These are very rare in this unlisted colour and in any colour remarkable gramophones, easily as good, if not superior to an HMV 102......and they're earlier too!

Yes very rare and never catalogued, but not without it's faults which include :

A problem with the lid not self supporting, mentioned by the seller.
Missing wooden trim strip along the top of the horn opening.
Needle screw missing and replaced with a wood screw eye which may have stripped the stylus bar thread.
The soundbox should of course be a Columbia No.9, not the Thorens lookalike fitted.

I have owned my Green Crocodile 112a for several years. It cost £50 but was in need of considerable restoration work.
I hope this latest example finds a sympathetic and knowledgeable new owner.
