The extensive research carried out by Martin (Nostalgia) revealed that Columbia sometimes used the same model numbers for different machines in different countries. This 211Z bears no resemblance to the bottom of the range UK 211Z.
The HMV/EMI style tonearm suggests a post-1931 date.

It might be a different 211, but it's still awfully cheaply made and put together.

Which is why I have no intention of buying it. Never having seen one before, I posted it here out of interest.

As a keen collector of Columbia "oddities", I was tempted, but I'm not convinced that the arm isn't a replacement. I'm aware that it was used on later Columbia machines (206, 9000), but although the autobrake actuating arm is attached, there is no sign of the rest of the mechanism. It could have been removed, of course, but something still worries me about that arm, so I'm passing on this one.
