Asking too much yet looks like a nice machine with record binders. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/it ... tid=6ojiHh

I really do like this gramophone.

It is a great design and looks as if it has been very well cared for ?

It does look very nice! However, like a typical FB ad, lots of pictures of stuff that does not matter.

What images and description do experienced sellers and buyers put, or look for, in a TMF/Marketplace/Craigslist advert?

Good clear pictures from every angle. Detailed descriptions including any faults. Reasonable postage charges where appropriate.
Advertising a portable for collection only is the best way of restricting potential buyers and failing to achieve the highest selling price. Packing a portable for postage is not difficult, yet many sellers refuse to make the effort.

In this case, having pictures of the cabinet sides and the top surface of the lid would be very helpful, while photos of the lid decal, needles and the records are useless, (although it's fine to show them, but not to the exclusion of other important details). In all honesty, this ad is not the worst example.

And don't forget Jerry B's tone arm and spindle proximity photo for external horn phonographs! There are so many ads on marketplace and craigslist - this is all great information, especially when asking for more information/photos. As someone who has (hopefully the wife says) just emerged from the freshman collection phase to sophomore standing (comfortable with what I have, but always room for that Schoolhouse and Berliner) I certainly learned a lot of lessons... . And so many of you have been helpful in fixing those lessons with grace and good humor.

I've always loved this model. Not worth that kind of money though. On a side note, why do FB/CL sellers LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to take photos of the decal in the lid? 99% of machines have the decal in very good condition (even if the machine itself is trashed).
