WANTED:Edison Cylinder #5410-Arthur Collins; I Want My Lulu

Post by fran604g »

Hiya folks,

I'm looking to buy this to fulfill an empty record box, and to go with my ca.1900 "Mackie" Standard model A outfit.

The record must be in at least VG condition, and playable. Please, no moldy junk for now, and I'm NOT interested in the Gold Moulded release version.

PM me with details, and we'll hash out a deal. I'm not able to pay a great deal of money, so please be gentle with me -- I'd do the same for you. :)

Best regards,
Fran

Fran,
I guess I'm confused by your listing. You say you don't want a gold moulded cylinder. But your machine package you are preserving is ca. 1900. "Mackie" , whatever that is. Are you looking for an indestructible cylinder, or some other manufacturer? That number doesn't coincide with other numbers I'm familiar with from that time frame era.

It's a brown-wax Edison issue. :)

Ya beat me to it, George.

It's a brown-wax record that was released in 1898 (Sutton; Edison Two-Minute and Concert Cylinders). I have the box for this title that was sold by the same Rochester, NY dealer Mackie Piano, Organ and Music Co.. It's entirely appropriate to imagine the record and the Standard Phonograph could have been in the store during the same time period.

I wrote a long-winded post about the Mackie Music Co. 6 years ago (WOW, that long ago?), here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=16530

Cheers,
Fran

Bump to top. Maybe someone has one for sale at the Wayne show on Sunday? My 2 bestie pals phonogfp and NateO will be in attendance.

Thanks,
Fran

In the hope that perhaps this brown wax recording might have surfaced since my OP, bump to the top.
