FOR SALE: Spoken Word 12" Album Sets- WW2- REDUCED

Post by gramophone-georg »

1. "The Sound Of History: THEN CAME WAR: 1939". Edited and introduced by Elmer Davis. Issued in December 1939, this is a contemporary outline of events leading up to the outbreak of the war in Europe in September 1939. Columbia pressings for the World Book Co. Three discs in E to E- condition with Dewey decimal notations on the A side labels. Binder is in OK condition with some lower sleeve splitting and wear as shown. This was obviously a set intended for educational purposes. Unfortunately the notes for educational use are missing. $75.00 OBO SOLD!

2. "...Rendezvous With Destiny", Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Famous speeches from the first inaugural address to the final tribute in Congress by President Truman on April 16, 1945. Two volumes of 6 records each. These appear to be "VICTROLAC" (or maybe even early very stiff vinyl) but they feel like Victrolac "Program Transcriptions". They play very well but are "filmy". I can run these through my Spin Clean record cleaner unless you have a personal preferred method of cleaning. Again, these seem to be pressed and distributed for educational use, and the educational notes are present on these sets. the binders are in good contion with minor wear and splitting on some sleeves. $150.00 OBO.

Please note that these records do smell musty. They were in storage in the basement of a university library for a LONG time!

In a way, they didn't- at least not for the general public. These were marketed to schools and universities only so they are really quite rare.
