I know of at least two people who in the past ~2 years bought 5" Berliners for very little money because the seller had no idea what they were. As John Tefteller sometimes posts on Facebook, it takes a huge amount of work, but the deals are out there.

This does not happen often. The vast majority of the sellers on eBay fall into the "it's so old, it must be worth a billion dollars" category.
