Irish records for sale $3.00 each

Post by need4art »

What do you do when you go to Ireland-You go to pubs, drink and listen to music. My wife and entered a pub in a small town -Kinsale- that had a horn wind up phonograph that was so old that I could not see any identfing marks on it-all had been worn off. It was sitting on the counter with a small wooden box next to it with a sign that asked you to put your coins in it, crank the handle and put the needle on the record. Next to it was a stack of records and I played a couple of them. They were pretty catchy. They were Rex and Copley records. The Rex from England the Copley from the US!. Got back home and we started to collect those records and I have some duplicates for sale.

Condition-some scuffs and light scratches but all play G+-VG

If you are collecting Irish records I highly recommend those of Delia Murphy.

I only have two hmvs by Danny Malone, don't know if this is pure Irish singing, but I like them! He seems to be forced in the sustained notes, with that vibrato... But I find don't-know-what delicious and intimate charm in his style...

I have but one Delia Murphy, The old spinning wheel, on a plum label BD series hmv. I don't remember it, as it has rested on my basement shelves for years (the records I didn't like especially...)
