A while back in a thread about restoring a Victrola that had no motor, I mentioned that I had a photocopy of a photocopy of Harold Braker's Victor-Victrola Motor Identification (and Repair Information). For some reason this excellent research has been largely unknown in the collecting community, probably because 14 years has passed since it was published for the US collector community. I subsequently contacted Mr. Braker and he graciously assented to allowing his guide to be posted to this website so that the greater collecting community may have ready access to this information. I had originally planned to have this posted about May 1, but because of travel, I was unable to intercept Mr. Braker's envelope in the mail until I was home briefly yesterday. So, here is Mr. Braker's guide in pdf format. Better late than never! Thank you, Mr. Braker! Enjoy, you all!
THE GUIDE IS IN TWO POSTS -- ONE OF TEN PAGES, ONE OF NINE PAGES FOR A TOTAL OF NINETEEN PAGES

Having some problem with file size. It will probably end up in 3 or 4 files.
Mordeth, what is the file size limitation for the board? Can we increase it to 20M?
UPDATE: Stitching the files together was easy, getting them uploaded to the board was a real pain in the a$$.

When I spoke with him on the telephone, he told me that his latest area of interest is Higham friction amplifiers (as on the Columbia Type BC Graphophones) and that he was producing reproduction parts to rebuild them. Said he has learned quite a bit about their operation and maintenance.
