Show us your Fibre Needle Packs!

Post by Zwebie »

I was going thru my "needle stash" and realized that I had quite a few different Fibre Needle Packs.
I thought I would share them with the group. Maybe others can add pictures of their Fibre Needle Packs.

Cheers, Bob S.

That's a fine collection.
Thanks for showing them.

Here are a few British fibres and thorns. Orchorsol, who remanufactures thorns, will probably have far more to show you.

There's a fiber needle envelope in here as well as two very fragile Peter Grey company advertising leaflets explaining how to use fiber needles to make records last longer. The leaflets are printed on tissue paper and are still in marvelous condition for their age (1930s or '40s.)

I found all this inside my first classic electric, an RE-45. I am not sure if it was a 1929 or 1930 model as it is made by the Victor Talking Machine Division of the Radio-victor Corporation of America (sic) but anyway to me it is still a "victrola," just one that I don't have to wind.

The envelope with the red cross is the Kakti needle packet.

(Edit--I'm also adding a picture of the RE-45 just because. No it isn't quite a time capsule; it's been damaged & I need to put new front doors on it or re-veneer the front.)

Wonderful wonders, thanks for sharing! I have only an original package of HALL fibres, that with grey stripes and yellow bamboo structure holding the signal with the HALL name in red, as shown herein above. The rest of triangular concaved bamboos I use (I don't use the original HALL ones as Idon't want to spend them) are handamade by me. I have to design a nice paper package for them, then I'll be able to show it to you.... :D

I don't have a lot of either bamboo or thorn needles, just those below.
I guess the most unusual of them are the Apollon needles by the Apollon Talking Machine Co Ltd of Tokyo. These are bamboo needles with a turned shaft so they can be used in soundboxes not designed for fibre needles and have a round hole in the needle chuck.
I've also included a Recordavox adaptor and unnamed adaptor made for the same purpose.
The last 2 are of the thorns.

I thought so too.
The Recordavox envelope is unopened and still contains the adaptor and needle.
I've been tempted to open it to look at the adaptor, which appears to simply hold the needle in a metal sleeve, but I won't.
If anyone has one I'd be interested in seeing a picture of it..
I'd also love to know what brand the one with a thumb screw is if anyone knows.
