Alto Phonograph

Post by Bobm90 »

Hi knowledgeable people,
I have been trying to get some info on a portable 78 RPM, hand-crank phonograph made by ALTO, I will include a picture and appreciate any info that anyone can provide on the company or the player, and possible year of manufacture, many thanks for your efforts.

If the manufacturer's name appears inside the lid (behind the records) and/or on the soundbox, pictures would aid identification.
If you can access the motor there may also be a manufacturer's name on the bottom plate.
My initial impression is that the machine may be European and dating from the late 1920's or early 1930's.

Thank you for the reply, There is nothing in the usual places (or the motor) indicating the make, model, or year of this phonograph. The only place there is the maker's name is on the brake bracket, it reads "Alto, Type I" I will attach a photo of the bracket.
