Gramophones Bring The Family Together.

Post by gramophone78 »

I thought I would play one of my "trade marks" for the family last night before dinner. Even though I did not use my best horn....You know how family can behave. They still seemed to enjoy it. I'm glad as I could have been the main course...... .

That battered horn looks very much like the one seen on a 1905 postcard showing an Improved Gramophone and two little kids. Don't you have that one?

Yes, it's the same horn and maybe the same machine also. I don't think Berliner's were a hot item in the Congo!!!!. I wonder what the shipping charges were .

Both cards by the same publisher - - clearly the same machine. I think it's interesting how the horn took such a hammering in a short 5-6 years of life. Someone should have used a box to transport it!

That horn was obviously used as a target for "spear practice". First one cleanly in the opening wins!!

Maybe the local witch doctor thought it was the devil when it started singing, & attacked it with a big stick :monkey:
They're both great postcards Gram78. I wish stuff like this turned up in these parts.
