can u record on 4 min cellioluid?
i really have no intention to do this, but i was wondering if it is possible to record onto a 4 minute indestructible material record. ive only seen people record 2 minute wax but it would be great to one day make a 4 min record!

Recording on celluloid is a bit tricky, to say the least. Lioret soaked cylinders in hot water to soften them; but I don't think Indestructible, Everlasting, etc. cylinders would respond too well to that.
About 50 years ago, I tried recording on my Amberola 30, by holding the stylus down, and making loud noises into the horn, on the dead wax of a BA. I did get some results, but nothing to write home about; I probably didn't do any good to the stylus, either...

No you cannot. BUT. Do you have a 4 minute recorder?

Everything about trying to cut on celluloid is a bad idea.
They don't make the cylinders anymore, this could possibly damage whatever you're recording with, and if you want to record longer than 2 minutes you probably can either slow a wax 2 minute down to brown wax speed of 120rpm, or make a record with a portable disc recorder and 78rpm acetate discs.

Always glad to help someone new!phonograph guy3435 wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2024 10:11 am I do not have a four minute recorder but thanks for the info!
But remember 4 minute recorders are out there but not as much as your typical 2 minute recorder especially one that has been rebuilt with new gaskets. Plus it comes at a premium cost (reason I don’t have a 4 min recorder)
