Berliner's Gramophone??

Post by whoopinola »

Last year I came across a wooden packing crate lettered for "Berliners Gramophone Montreal"...It's the only time that I've seen the possesive plural form of "Berliner" used...was this a common usage or is this a "Crapobox" , or ???

Looks OK to me. I have seen a couple different ones. Even Lee Valley had one on their cover once. It had the HMV as well. Yours looks bigger than some I've seen. There should be other marking on the crate....???.

I would have thought the crate would have had something to state what was inside ie: a type of machine or parts, etc....
The only Berliner box I have was for 7" records. They were sent to dealers in one dozen lots of a matrix number.
However, even this has "E.Berliner" as does all my early items.
