Picture of a Phonograph Store
I was wondering if this is a well known image or something special? I scanned it into my computer today and sharpened it for printing. I reduced the size of a copy for posting here.

Thanks for posting the picture. I really like the rack on the wall holding cylinders. I just may try making one like it.

I may not be the only one that would like to see the hi-res picture, good for seeing finer details or printing.audiophile102 wrote:I reduced the size of a copy for posting here.

That appears to be a model C Standard so it's got to be about 1908. Are those Amberol boxes on the top shelf or the later two minute boxes? Great photo. You know how much I like paper memorabilia. The display case is full of cigars! Thomas Edison would approve.

Certainly a few Wax Amberols, so probably about 1908.

Maybe the perspective is skewed, but those cylinder boxes on the wall appear to be larger than 2 / 4 minute boxes ?

Re: Picture of a Phonograph Store
If they were standard size cylinders, I would think they would appear to be smaller than the ones on the cylinder cabinet in the foreground because of perspective... they look larger to me, also.De Soto Frank wrote:Maybe the perspective is skewed, but those cylinder boxes on the wall appear to be larger than 2 / 4 minute boxes ?

"The phonograph is not of any commercial value."

This image has been around for some time. Several years ago, 8 x 10 glossies were being sold at Union. I may have one somewhere.

I am wondering if those are "Concert" size cylinders on the wall ?

"Concerts" would be much larger than that. They look like Amberol boxes to me.De Soto Frank wrote:Curt A wrote:If they were standard size cylinders, I would think they would appear to be smaller than the ones on the cylinder cabinet in the foreground because of perspective... they look larger to me, also.De Soto Frank wrote:Maybe the perspective is skewed, but those cylinder boxes on the wall appear to be larger than 2 / 4 minute boxes ?
